The DPMS Recon in 5.56mm NATO with a 16-inch matte black finish is a semi-automatic modern sporting rifle with a 30+1 round capacity. This rifle is designed to offer accuracy without the bulk of a full-size precision rifle, weighing just 7.65 lbs. empty. Its 16-inch heavy barrel is made of bead-blasted 416 stainless steel, featuring 6 grooves with a 1×9 right twist and an AAC flash hider that effectively eliminates muzzle flash without compromising accuracy.

Chambered in 5.56x45mm, the Recon comes with front and rear Magpul back-up sights and a mid 4-rail free-float handguard. The upper receiver is a mil-spec A3-style flattop forged from 7075 T6 aluminum, while the lower receiver is also forged from 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum. The rifle includes a Magpul MOE stock and grip, along with an enhanced trigger guard. When fully extended, it measures 37 inches, and when collapsed, its length is 33.25 inches.
